Managing Director, Investor Relations

As a Managing Director of Investor Relations at Shelton Group in the firm’s San Jose office, Joel Achramowicz provides strategic counsel and program oversight to technology client accounts, including hardware, software and cloud computing companies. He serves as a key liaison between each client company and the financial community, building long-term relationships with both high quality institutional investors and carefully selected sell-side analysts. Achramowicz has an extensive background in investor relations, capital markets and the high-technology industry, spanning more than 20 years. The combination of his diverse technology industry experience and extensive relationships throughout Silicon Valley enables Achramowicz to achieve measurable results while serving as a value-added member of his clients’ strategic IR teams.

In particular, Achramowicz works directly with executive teams to develop key messages in line with each company’s operating strategy; he then communicates these messages to the marketplace and to influential buy- and sell-side firms carefully selected as primary targets of each client’s IR program. To ensure messages resonate with investors, Achramowicz proactively cultivates feedback from his interactions with the investment community to craft and adjust these investor-focused communications as each client evolves. With added insight from detailed financial analysis of peer performance and industry trends, he keeps management apprised of changing market conditions and timely insights in order to provide clients with pertinent information when talking with investors and analysts.

In addition to maintaining regular contact with investors and analysts, Achramowicz is an accomplished communicator with expertise in messaging for investor presentations, quarterly earnings releases, conference call scripts and investor positioning. He also has extensive experience in financial analysis, sell-side research, investment banking, road show planning, financial conference management and analytical management reports. He advises his clients in the use of such tools to communicate consistently with shareholders, building both exposure and credibility.

Prior to joining Shelton, Achramowicz served as director of PMC-Sierra’s Investor Relations Department, where he tripled sell-side coverage and built a strong and balanced institutional shareholder base in advance of that company’s merger with Microsemi in January of 2016. Before that assignment, Achramowicz spent 18 years on Wall Street as a sell-side technology analyst and banker covering: semiconductors; telecom equipment; communications systems & the Internet; mobile & wireline modulation software technologies; networking, routing & switching systems; computing systems, operating systems & peripherals; as well as various independent software systems companies. He’s worked with a number of successful investment banks during his Wall Street career, opening new offices for some of those firms in the Bay Area, and establishing powerful technology franchises during his tenure in each case.

Achramowicz has also served as a technology strategy & management consultant for closely-held and public technology companies during which he has advised management on investor positioning, capitalization, branding and ongoing communications regarding operating issues, performance and strategy. He monitors peer company performance metrics, competitive market developments relevant to client strategies and regulatory reporting requirements and ongoing issues that affect industry dynamics and economic conditions in various sectors. Achramowicz holds an extensive network of relationships throughout the technology sector across companies, investors, analysts and public relations professionals. And, he’s personally committed to increasing the proper mix of institutional ownership and analyst coverage for each Shelton client, leading ultimately to superior market valuation.

Achramowicz began his career in Southern California as a digital electronics engineer upon his graduation from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He subsequently gravitated to the business side of the high-tech industry undertaking senior strategic marketing positions with a number of technology enterprises, including HP, GE and others, prior to entering Wall Street.

Achramowicz also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Claremont McKenna College and a Master of Science degree in computer architecture from the University of Southern California.
